In London, England, there once was an old family home. It was a big mansion but its owners then started to feel the need for a separate workspace. After all, it’s better not to mix business with pleasure. So an extension was built for the house. It was designed by and has a geometric design and modern interior. The extension was called The Green Studio and soon you’ll understand why.

This is a sustainable building and its shape and orientation were chosen after analyzing the sunlight and its impact of the surrounding buildings. The clients wanted as much natural light as possible but they didn’t want the interior to get hot so the studio had to be insulated. You’ll be surprised to know that the extension requires no heating or cooling as it has a very efficient ventilation system. Also, hot water is provided by solar panels. The studio features a green roof with beautiful planter beds and wild flowers.

Of course, all the detailed mentioned above make this studio very interesting but perhaps the most eye-catching feature can be found inside in the form of red parachute cables that take the place of balustrades between the two levels of the office. The criss-crossing cables extend from the ceiling to the floor’s edge of the mezzanine space and they’re strong enough to hold a person, the gaps between them are never wider than 10 cm so no accidents can happen here, only fun things.
