We each customize our homes based on what we love and how we like using the space and we each have our own methods of dealing with the challenges. For a couple with children living in the region of Kaohsiung, Taiwan, the solution was to re-plan their whole house in order to make it suit the lifestyle of each family member. They collaborated with .
Each family member had different needs and preferences so the new interior design had to take into consideration all of that in addition to a few other details including the aesthetic directions, the circulation routes and the ways in which various spaces interact with each other. All of these were planned with the end user in mind. The house was designed to reflect their clients personal taste and style, hence the interesting combination of industrial and classical elements.
The interior floor plan covers a total area of 110 square meters organized into an open social zone and a private zone. The custom nature of the interior is visible right from the entrance which features a series of shelves and recesses placed at different heights so they can be comfortable reached by their intended users. sAs far as the rest of the layout is concerned, some changes were required.
The original layout was more conventional but didn’t really suit the owners’ needs. As a result, the kitchen had to be relocated and the space was repurposed into a storage area. The new kitchen is now adjacent to the balcony which has sliding glass doors that let in lots of natural sunlight. The balcony also includes a special area for growing plants outside which can be accessed directly from the kitchen.
Out here, the father and the kids get to bond and to enjoy gardening. There’s a green wall, space for hanging planters and also this classy set of garden furniture with a pedestal table and two matching stools.
The parents’ bedroom is decorated with tones of gray, white and blue which match the classical influences also featured in the living area. The decor and the ambiance here are tranquil, serene and relaxed.
The child’s bedroom is more colorful and has lots of fun and cool features, including a special tiny door and a wall covered with blackboard paint. The room is small and, to make the most of the available floor space, the designers placed the bed on a wooden platform with several storage modules underneath. The solution is both practical and kid-friendly.
The storage modules and easy to use and to access and they help to encourage good cleaning and organizing habits by providing space for clothes, books, toys and all sorts of other things. They store everything and this keeps the room tidy and beautiful cleaning and organizing becomes fun and easy.
